Handley Street Shoes

$320.00

Walking North, from the Walking the Perimeter series by Janet Elizabeth Thomas

In Handley Street Shoes, Janet Elizabeth Thomas transforms an unexpected suburban sight into a compelling study of memory, mystery and place. Suspended from power lines above a quiet Marrickville street, a pair of abandoned shoes becomes the focal point of the composition, drawing the viewer's eye into an otherwise familiar urban landscape. Beneath a dramatic blue-green sky, utility poles, street signs and overhead wires create a network of lines that speak to connection, movement and everyday experience.

Part of the Walking North group within Walking the Perimeter, the work reflects Thomas's attentiveness to the overlooked details encountered during her daily walks. The image captures a fleeting urban phenomenon that is simultaneously ordinary and enigmatic, inviting reflection on the traces people leave behind in the built environment.

Through her distinctive digital painting process, Thomas distils the scene into bold forms, rich colour and layered textures, transforming a chance observation into a poetic meditation on the character of the Inner West.

Medium: Digital painting, archival pigment print
Edition: Limited edition of 25
Size: A3 (297 × 420 mm)
Authentication: Individually signed and numbered by the artist on the reverse and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.

Framing Options: Available unframed or professionally framed in a selection of contemporary timber and gallery-style finishes. Museum-grade matting and glazing options are available upon request.

A distinctive addition to the Walking North series, Handley Street Shoes offers collectors a uniquely local portrait of Marrickville, celebrating the unexpected moments that reveal themselves when walking slowly and looking closely.
